The silence was immediate.
Kevin opened his mouth… but no words came out.
“You, Sierra, and my mother,” I continued calmly. “I listened to all of you.”
Her face went from panic to rage.
—You don’t know what you heard.
I smiled slightly.
—I listened enough.
He tried to enter the house.
—We need to talk about this.
I shook my head.
-Not anymore.
I pointed to the suitcases.
—The house is mine. Legally.
Kevin looked at the documents again.
And then he understood.
—You can’t do this to me.
I looked at him calmly.
—You did it to me first.
But that wasn’t the worst part.
Two days later I visited my sister in the hospital.
